Lady Pearl is Durham native, Tatiana M. Johnson’s award-winning feature-length script. It’s a story about women of all ages living their lives out loud. It follows best friends, Evelyn Harris and Elianna Rodriguez as they put a new spin on some old memories when Elianna decides to compete in the annual Lady Pearl Senior Pageant.
The live reading of the script will feature some of RDU’s premiere talent including Barbette Hunter, Edith Berry, Lou Campbell, Ian Parks, Tisha Carnes, Lynnette Barber, Samantha Ford, Joanna LaForgia, Lynn Ford, Tameka Tisdale, Christopher Bailey, Albert Guzman, and Pamela Thompson.
Music provided by JDmL. Co-Directed and Co-Produced by Tatiana M Johnson and Alexus Rhone.
The community (especially those 60+) is invited to share in the fun and offer feedback to the screenwriter as she intends for this event to be one step closer to her ultimately bringing the script to screen. This event is rated PG-13. This is a free event open to the public.
This project is made possible by an Ella Fountain Pratt Emerging Artist Grant from the Durham Arts Council.
